Each winner will receive $500 as a reward for crafting unique and well-written essays and infographics on financial topics.
Colleen McMahon, a student major in accounting at Washington State University, Pullman, has been awarded a $500 scholarship for her essay on “Why Do You Feel That People Make Poor Financial Decisions?“
Amanda Rivera’s essay on “Why Do People Make Poor Financial Decisions?“ also impressed the judges of the 2017 contest, earning her a $500 scholarship. She’s a student at Calhoun Community College in Huntsville, Alabama, and she’s majoring in general studies with a concentration on elementary education.
Ricardo Calderon was also a 2017 SDL Achiever Scholarship winner. An information technology major at Depaul University in Chicago, Calderon wrote an informative piece entitled “Poor Decisions Make You Want More.“
